  1. Mount Kenya: This is the highest mountain in Kenya and the second-highest in Africa after Mount Kilimanjaro. Mount Kenya offers several challenging routes to the summit, including the popular Sirimon and Chogoria routes. The highest peaks on Mount Kenya are Batian (5,199 meters) and Nelion (5,188 meters), both of which require technical climbing skills.

  2. Mount Longonot: Located in the Great Rift Valley, Mount Longonot is an extinct volcano with a distinctive crater at the summit. Climbing Mount Longonot is relatively easy compared to Mount Kenya, making it suitable for beginners or those looking for a less challenging climb. The hike to the summit and around the crater rim offers stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

  3. Aberdare Ranges: The Aberdare Mountains offer a range of climbing and hiking opportunities, including peaks such as Kinangop and Ol Doinyo Lesatima. The terrain varies from dense forests to alpine moorlands, providing diverse experiences for climbers. The Aberdare Ranges are also known for their rich biodiversity, including rare and endemic plant and animal species.

  4. Mount Elgon: Although Mount Elgon is located on the border between Kenya and Uganda, the Kenyan side offers excellent climbing opportunities. Mount Elgon is an extinct shield volcano with a vast caldera and several peaks, including Wagagai, which is the highest peak on the Kenyan side at 4,321 meters. Climbing Mount Elgon involves trekking through forests, traversing lava caves, and ascending to the rugged summit.

  5. The Chyulu Hills: The Chyulu Hills are a volcanic range located between Amboseli and Tsavo National Parks. Climbing in the Chyulu Hills offers breathtaking views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Kenya on clear days. The hills are characterized by rolling grasslands, volcanic cones, and lava tubes, providing a unique and scenic climbing experience.
